Join us in exploring another side of Lithuania and visit the South of the country for beautiful nature and quirky local history. Our knowledgeable local guides take a small group, up to 8 people, for a fun-filled day in the Druskininkai area. Discover with us stories and places you would never stumble across on your own.

We will take in the breathtaking view at Pūčkorių atodanga much loved by the locals as a romantic spot. You will learn about the medieval period and the famous Northern Crusades in Lithuania at the Medininkai Castle, one of several historical defences near Vilnius. The high red-brick walls hide many secrets about old Lithuania.

Be astonished by the brief but glorious history of the Pawlowo Republika, a country you probably have never heard of before by walking between the picturesque ruins that were left behind. Take a leisurely stroll through Druskininkai that is known and loved by the locals as a resort town. From beautiful parks to colourful churches and singing fountains, Druskininkai is full of many surprises.

Soak in the recent history and what is left behind when a dictatorship falls by visiting the Grūtas Park, a truly unique landmark in Lithuania. Grūtas Park is where many of the Soviet era monuments of famous communists and party leaders have come to rest. Long removed from their original locations this is where you can still come face to face with Lenin and others. The imposing statues along with now useless propaganda posters and books will leave a lasting impression.

In Druskininkai we also stop for a lunch at a local restaurant. Kindly let our guides know if you have any special dietary needs that we should take in account. Location of the lunch is subject to availability and the meal is not included in the price of the tour.

"Great day out"

This day's itinerary is a bit packed and I'd suggest changing the pacing/ focus a little Maybe just a little longer at the first view stop to wander around. Medininkai Castle was lovely and the right amount of time. But I think more time is needed for Druskininkai - it felt like a long drive for a short visit and there was more we wanted to see there. I think there should be time to see the town and the fountain and the shops. The cable car is ok but not worth the time compared with seeing the town. Grutas Park is an odd place - really just a collection of soviet statues that didn't really work very well as a museum - we would have preferred far less time there (if any, to be honest it can be skipped). I suggest giving people the choice of where they'd like to spend time. Laura our guide was great - this tour company has very high quality guides and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

"A fun day off the beaten path"

My husband and I had a great day learning the secrets of Lithuanian history and visiting places we never knew existed. Our Guide Laura was fantastic, she was so energetic and told us a lot of fun stores about Lithuania and its past.

"Fascinating Lithuania"

Fun day exploring places I had never heard of before. We had a great local food for lunch. Grutas Park was the most memorable place with the old Soviet monuments. The guide was very energetic and answered all our questions. I absolutely recommend taking this tour.

"An awesome day out in Lithuania"
